Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic, who recently clinched the gold medal in men's singles at the Olympics, was greeted as a hero upon his return home. Over 100,000 Serbian fans gathered to celebrate Djokovic and the successful Serbian Olympic delegation. Djokovic, the undisputed star of the event, was cheered on with chants of "Nole, Nole, Nole!" even receiving a personal welcome from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who embraced him warmly.

Addressing the crowd from the balcony of the Belgrade City Hall, Djokovic delivered an emotional speech, saying, "Not many people believed I could achieve this, but I had the unwavering support of my country and my fellow Serbians. It's wonderful to be here with other Olympians and to celebrate this victory with everyone."

Reflecting on his journey, Djokovic expressed, "I've been longing for this gold medal for a long time. Having competed in several Olympics without standing on the top step of the podium, this time I faced injuries and doubts about my tennis level. Few believed I could win this gold medal, but I believed in myself."

Acknowledging the significance of the moment, he added, "I knew this might be my last chance to win a gold medal. This is my best performance in this event, not losing a single set. If there is any moment in my life that makes me feel that this life is worth it, it is now. I'm not being modest when I say that this gold medal is the pinnacle of my career. I am immensely proud to have won this gold medal for Serbia."

Basketball superstar Nikola Jokić, who contributed to Serbia's bronze medal win in men's basketball, also joined the celebrations. The simultaneous presence of Serbia's two sporting giants marked a rare and memorable occasion for the nation.

At the age of 37, Djokovic triumphed over Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz in the Olympic final, securing his first-ever Olympic men's singles gold medal. With this victory, Djokovic completed the "Golden Grand Slam" achievement late in his career.
