Kerr is expected to step down as head coach of the US men's basketball team. Spoelstra is the popular candidate
On August 12, 2024, Beijing time, according to US media, Steve Kerr is expected to step down as the head coach of the US men's basketball team.
In last year's Men's Basketball World Cup, Kerr led the US team to a fourth place; and this year's Olympics won the gold medal, winning the championship for the fifth consecutive Olympics. Kerr joked in an interview that he would resign as the national team coach, and various signs now indicate that this does not look like a joke.
If Kerr steps down, Spoelstra will be the hot candidate to succeed him.
In addition, it was revealed that Grant Hill, general manager of the US men's basketball team, is expected to stay and lead the team to the 2027 World Cup in Qatar (the US team has not won a medal in this event since 2014) and the Los Angeles Olympics.
