On August 14, local time, the second day of the ATP1000 Cincinnati Masters began. World No. 1 Sinner defeated American rising star Michelson 6-4/7-5 and advanced to the men's singles round of 16. Sinner lost to Rublev in the quarter-finals of the Montreal Masters last week. After the game, he admitted that his hip injury affected his performance.

However, after coming to Cincinnati, the Italian admitted that although his physical condition was not 100%, his hip injury was getting better. With this victory, Sinner won his 25th hard court victory this season. His next opponent will be Australian player Thompson, who eliminated Baez in two sets.
