On August 12, local time, the ATP Montreal Masters finals decided the men's singles final lineup. No. 5 seed Rublev defeated Italian player Arnoldi 6-4/6-2 in the semifinals and entered the final of the event for the first time. The game was interrupted for 100 minutes. The two players were suspended due to rain when they fought to 6-4/1-1. After the resumption, Rublev won five consecutive games.

Rublev

After the upset of world No. 1 Sinner in the quarter-finals the day before, Rublev entered the sixth Masters final of his career and will strive for his third Masters title. Rublev won his first Masters title in Monte Carlo last year and then won his second Masters title in Madrid this year.

With his amazing performance in Montreal this week, Rublev rose to seventh in the championship points list this season. If he can win the championship, he will surpass Djokovic to sixth, thus occupying a favorable position to enter the year-end finals for the fifth consecutive year.

Poplin

Rublev's opponent in the final was the dark horse Poplin from Australia. The latter played two matches in one day. He first eliminated the Polish star Hurkacz 3-6/7-6(5)/7-5. He was only two points away from losing in this match. Then he won the semi-final against Korda 7-6(0)/6-3 and entered the Masters final for the first time in his career.
