Muller: Bayern's changes will take time, I will welcome the new season with an open mind
Muller was interviewed and talked about his outlook for Bayern's new season and other topics.
Outlook for Bayern's new season
It's an interesting situation for fans and players now. Everyone wants to know how Bayern will react after only finishing third in the Bundesliga last season. The best outcome is that we can bounce back quickly, but in sports and life, you never know to what extent the changes you plan to make will be effective. We are well prepared for the new season, but every team may feel the same, so I am excited and looking forward to the start of the new Bundesliga season next week.
Bayern has made changes, which takes time, but everything seems to be going well at the moment. I think if we continue to concede as many goals as we did last year or the year before, we will not succeed. Leverkusen's excellence last season was that the defense was stable. Our offense was better, but Leverkusen conceded fewer goals. To achieve this (less goals), every coach has a different way.
About his role in Bayern in the new season
It is obvious that Bayern's new coaching team is in control of the situation. But will that alone bring us points and exciting games straight away? I don't think so, what we need to improve is our performance on the pitch and make sure we dominate again. I still think my strengths are creating chances and scoring goals, and I'm glad we're playing a pressing game again, which suits me perfectly.
At the moment I don't know what my role will be, football changes so quickly. I'm in good form and full of energy, the rest we'll see, it's a new situation for everyone. Of course, I hope I can make a positive contribution to the team with my qualities that make me special and that the coach can use. I'm working hard to get as much playing time as possible (but that's what everyone in the team wants) and I'm going to go into the new season with an open mind. I know the club best and it's easier to think outside the box, and I'll do my best to make sure we're successful again.
