American sprint star Lyles withdrew from the competition due to a positive COVID-19 test and will miss the men's 4X100m final
American sprint star Lyles updated his social media status, announcing that he would withdraw from the remaining games of this Olympics due to infection with the new coronavirus.
At this Olympics, Lyles won the men's 100m gold medal and 200m bronze medal, but he will not participate in the men's 4×100m relay final.
Lyles wrote: "First of all, I want to thank God for letting me go through the entire Olympics smoothly! Secondly, I want to congratulate other athletes for their performance in this wonderful 200m final. Finally, I want to thank everyone for their support messages. I believe this will be the end of my 2024 Olympics."
