Saha's Take on Ten Hag's Tactics: A Humorous Spin

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha reckons that Erik ten Hag should shake up his tactics for the weekend's clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have had a rocky start to the season, only managing three points from the first two games.

So far, ten Hag has opted for a rather unconventional setup, fielding no actual striker in the last two matches. Instead, Bruno Fernandes has been playing as a false nine, with Mason Mount behind him as a pressing midfielder.

While the team created some decent chances early on, Saha thinks it's time for a change against Liverpool.

According to the ex-Man Utd forward, Mount should be benched, and summer signing Joshua Zirkzee should step into the starting lineup.

Saha told Betfred: "I'd love to see Joshua Zirkzee get a start."

"He's an intriguing player who knows where the goal is. I'm hoping to see him improve after getting more minutes and confidence.

"Mason Mount is very active, but for an attacking midfielder, it's not enough.

"He needs to step it up because there are players on the bench waiting to take his spot. For Sunday's game, though, I definitely want to see a proper center-forward. Even though the false nine can work for pressing, it's not our main objective. Our goal is to score goals, not just press like madmen."

Mount has time to win over the doubters, but so far, his £60m move from Chelsea to United hasn't exactly set the world alight.

The 25-year-old missed a lot of action last season due to injuries, and now there are calls for him to be dropped after just two games.

Saha also reckons that this weekend will be a tough test for ten Hag, as he believes a heavy defeat to Liverpool could put the manager "under pressure."

"There'll be pressure, for sure, but it doesn't mean he's getting the boot. If they lose badly or play poorly, then he'll be under pressure. In football, everything's hunky-dory when you win, but when you lose, the world turns upside down.

"He kept his job by winning the FA Cup last season, no doubt about it. But like all his players, the gaffer needs to step up his game. I'm sure everyone around the manager is working their socks off, I just want to see goals, grit, and passion.

"I think we're getting there, but the new signings need time to settle in. Zirkzee seems to be adapting quickly, and I bet the boss is feeling pretty pumped about that."
