The European Super League claims to offer "free streaming."
La Liga President Tebas's Comments on De Laurentiis and the European Super League
La Liga president Javier Tebas's assessment of Napoli's chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is quite accurate. He remarked that Napoli seems to be the only club interested in the European Super League because De Laurentiis is willing to negotiate on anything—even if it means reducing football matches to just 30 minutes.
Tebas also stated that the European Super League won't materialize even in a hundred years, and that Florentino Pérez (Real Madrid's president) is well aware of this, though he continues to insist otherwise. Tebas expressed doubt over whether all the clubs involved in the European Super League truly have "equal voting rights," since Pérez's ideology is that "the rich should have more influence than the poor."
Regarding the European Super League's claim of "free streaming" as a selling point, Tebas bluntly said that it wouldn't happen even in a thousand years. He argued that anyone with knowledge of broadcasting rights would never suggest "free streaming," as it is economically impossible.
Tebas further commented that the current model of the European Super League is even more closed than the original version proposed in 2019. It is only slightly more open than the model announced in 2021, but it is still not an open competition, as the elite clubs would always remain in the top league.
Additionally, he pointed out that the legal battle over the European Super League is far from over. After the first court ruling, there are still appeals and a decision from the Supreme Court pending, a process that could take several years to resolve.
