Paul Pogba joins Arsenal? Gunners back Manchester United transfer after Premier League recognition
Arsenal are backed to make a shock signing for Paul Pogba as the former Manchester United midfielder eyes a return to the Premier League.
The Frenchman returns to Juventus in the summer of 2022 after six years at Manchester United but made just 12 appearances for the Serie A side before the ban.
Juventus director Cristiano Giottoli claimed that the "squad is complete" without the midfielder, suggesting Pogba will be forced to find a new club in January to return to action.
"Our position is clear," Giottoli said in an interview, ESPN reports. "Pogba is a great player who was absent for a long time and last year we were forced to invest in other players."
Despite the club's stance, Pogba has not revealed where he would like to play next, insisting that he is a Juventus player for now.
Pogba said: "Where do I want to play? On the pitch! I want to be on the pitch! Any pitch. First of all Juventus, I want to start training with my teammates. Training alone is hard - by myself! The main goal is to recover training and fitness, get back on the pitch, and do what I love.
"First of all, I have a contract at Juventus. I will see what they think and what their vision is. My vision is to show what football player I am. A new Paul Pogba with the same qualities. I am still ready."
But reports have claimed that Pogba is eyeing a return to the Premier League despite playing his best football in Serie A during his first spell at Juventus.
And former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes the Gunners should consider a move for his compatriot, who still has a lot to offer.
Sagna told Paddy Power: "The Premier League is for Paul Pogba - I would love to see him at Arsenal."
"It would be great - he has experience; he loves playing with young players around him - that's when he's most effective.
"At the 2018 World Cup, that was when he was most effective - he had friends around him.
"Arsenal have a young, fresh team and I see him doing well in an Arsenal shirt. He will be loved by the fans.
"Now, he can start again - he has been away from football for a while and he will come back with the desire to get back into good form and play football again."
